  • The film was commissioned by the British Film Institute for Godard to make a film about the 100th anniversary of the first public exhibition of a film, which took place in 1895, by the brothers Auguste and Louis Lumière. In the film, Godard talks to actor Michel Piccoli about the lack of memory of the French about the history of local cinema.
