Between 1989 and 2004 the Welsh channel S4C commisioned animation to Russian studio's later also expanding to other, often east european, studio's After a pilot in 1989 at Soyuzmultfilm, Christmas 1989, a joint venture, was started called Christmas films, at first with the Soyuzmultfilm studios as base, who realised most of the commisioned work. The animationwork was initiated by Christophere Grace, based on the notion that animation could be voiced lin several languages.

Trees cannot talk and they stand as if riveted to the spot, but they are alive nonetheless. They’re breathing. They keep growing for as long as they live.
